Contemporary Music at Trinity

       Under the leadership of Rev. Jerome Evavold, a Contemporary Service was added to our worship. It provides variety in style and music. We like to refer to it as "Light Christian Rock." They also use the current ELCA songbook,  "With One Voice".

Take Up Your Cross by Barry and Jerome

Take up your cross -- Jesus said.
Don't let pride get in your way.
Humble yourself, listen to him say.
Come and follow me today.

Chorus  --
So Take up your cross - He says to us today.
I'll be with to show the way.
In order to live - the way life was meant to be
Just take up your cross and follow me.

Take up your cross -- Jesus said.
If yourself you would find.
Give up your life, lose yourself in me.
Follow for you have been set free.

Chorus  --

I gave myself to you, give yourself to me.
Don't forget, you have been set free.
I died and rose again just as I said,
You will rise up from the dead.

Chorus  --

Real-Audio®

  Here are some Real-Audio sound clips from Trinity. (You must have the Real-Audio Plug-in in order to hear these.) The contemporary sound files are done by Jerome Evavold and Barry Marciniak. Most of these songs are heard on a regular basis at Trinity's contemporary service at 10:30 am on Sundays. The senior choir is heard at the traditional worship service at 9:00 am on Sundays.  We hope that they inspire you as well as entertain you.

Oh, Come, Oh, Come, Emmanuel

1 Oh, come, oh, come, Emmanuel,
and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.

Refrain
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
shall come to you, O Israel.

2 Oh, come, oh, come, great Lord of might,
who to your tribes on Sinai's height
in ancient times once gave the law
in cloud, and majesty, and awe.  Refrain

3 Oh, come, strong Branch of Jesse, free
your own from Satan's tyranny;
from depths of hell your people save
and give them vict'ry o'er the grave.  Refrain

4 Oh, come, blest Dayspring, come and cheer
our spirits by your advent here;
disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
and death's dark shadows put to flight.  Refrain

5 Oh, come, O Key of David, come,
and open wide our heav'nly home;
make safe the way that leads on high,
and close the path to misery.  Refrain

Text: Psalteriolum Cantionum Catholicarum, Köln, 1710; tr. John M. Neale, 1818-1866, alt.

Senior Choir
  The senior choir is directed by Jim Sersha. They sing on the first and third Sundays of each month, and on special celebrations throughout the Christian calender year. They average between 25 and 35 members. There are no requirements for musical ability and they are always looking for more members to fill the choir loft.

Kid's Choir
  The Kid's Choir is for the younger children at Trinity. Generally, ages 5 through 16.
