Job Title: Church Live-In Caretaker Position
Typically average of 10 - 12 hours a week, days and times to be determined by duties as needed

Start Date: September 1, 2018

Salary: $200.00 a month, housing in onsite apartment with heat, electricity and water included

Job Summary:
Locking and securing church building, cleaning offices, sanctuary, and common areas within the church building, preparation of church meeting areas with set up of tables and chairs, maintenance of outdoor grounds and walkways.

Flexible schedule needed in order to work around Church activities

Responsibilities Include:

  • Secure church at end of day and unlock for events as needed.
  • Mow and maintain grounds during warm weather months
  • Clear snow and ice from walkways in cold weather months
  • Empty wastebaskets, kitchen garbage and recycling
  • Clean bathrooms
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas
  • Mop non-carpeted floors
  • Dust woodwork
  • Notify appropriate person before cleaning supplies run out
  • Periodically check with Church facility coordinator for scheduled Church events to fulfill cleaning and set up responsibilities.

Job Qualifications/Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Degree or GED required
  • Must have and be able to maintain a driver’s license   
  • Must have a clean background check – we have an onsite pre-school
  • Previous Janitorial experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to use/utilize various cleaning solutions (both knowledge and ability as far as allergic reaction or sensitivities)
  • Ability to take initiative, example when something needs cleaning (even if it isn't in the description it is cleaned anyway)
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and high activity levels
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently
  • Ability to work from written or oral instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with congregation members, staff and external agencies
  • Good judgment in emergency situations

Physical Demands/Safety Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to reach from floor to eye level on an occasional to frequent basis
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds (mop bucket full of water, salt or sand tubes)
  • Must be able to demonstrate dexterity allowing for the ability to vacuum
  • Must be able to work in dusty situations at times
  • Must be able to climb stairs
